How Buying Vintage Furniture Can Save the 🌎 (J.K.)

As a vintage furniture lover and owner of a vintage furniture business, I can't help but feel a sense of pride in knowing that my business is doing its part for the environment. And what better day to talk about it than Earth Day!

So, why is buying vintage furniture good for the environment? Well, for starters, it's all about recycling. Every piece of vintage furniture that you buy is one less piece of furniture that ends up in a landfill. That's right, instead of throwing out your old, worn-out furniture, you can give it a new lease on life by selling it to someone who will appreciate its vintage charm or lacquering it for a whole new look! Who knows, that old dresser that's been sitting in your attic for years might just be worth a pretty penny!

But it's not just about reducing waste. When you buy vintage furniture, you're also reducing the demand for new mass furniture production. Think about it – if everyone started buying vintage furniture instead of new, we'd be cutting down on the amount of resources needed to produce new furniture. From the trees that are cut down to make the wood, to the energy needed to manufacture and transport the furniture, there's a lot of environmental impact that goes into producing new furniture.

Plus, vintage furniture has a lot of character and a some of it is made of better materials than new mass produced furniture. There's also something special about knowing that your dining room table has been around for decades and has seen generations of families gather around it. It's a conversation starter, a piece of history, and a statement piece all in one.

So, this Earth Day, why not do your part for the environment and consider buying vintage furniture? Not only will you be reducing waste.. you will also be adding a unique touch to your home that you just can't find in new furniture. And who knows, you might just fall in love with that vintage dresser and wonder how you ever lived without it!

    Meet Courtney!

Hi there...just dropping in to say hello!

My name is Courtney but I am also known as Coco or the “She - E - O” of One of a Find Charleston!  I answer to all of these names (as well as MOM) and I have been buying, sourcing and selling vintage furniture in Charleston, South Carolina for almost 6 years now.

I grew up in Connecticut and ended up at the College of Charleston where I met my husband, Blake, during the very first week of school.  He fell madly in love with me and the rest is history..just kidding.  There were a few moves to different states and some crazy jobs in between, (I actually worked at a Chiropractor's office for one day where I had to apply electrodes to people's backsides.  I left at lunch and never went back lol) but we ended up settling in Charleston where we met and are raising 3 boys and a crazy dog that eats toilet paper so I always have to be on my toes:

Fun Facts About Me (because I’m sure you are dying to know) :

    1. I am terrible at math so it’s mind boggling that this business still exists...
    2. I hardly eat any vegetables or drink any water and I’m still alive..for now
    3. I am really good at Wheel of Fortune but would choke if I actually got on the show
    4. I studied Opera in High School and my go to karaoke song is “Hopelessly Devoted to You” from Grease
    5. I hate doing laundry and cooking but all I ever wanted to be when I grew up was a stay at home Mom and not work LOLOLOL

I am not an influencer and promise to never start an Instagram story with “Hey Guys” LOL.  The only thing I will ever “influence” you to do is buy beautiful vintage pieces or help you to convince your husband to approve! ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by...now please buy something!!

    Xoxoxo, Courtney
